# Creating the conditions for innovation in emergency services

CESCIL is a national not-for-profit. Good ideas spread when people have time to look beyond their own work, trusted peers to think with, and room to talk honestly about what’s working and what isn’t. We help make that possible through a podcast and small peer discussions, starting with people who do emergency management work.

*We hope you’ll come away from our conversations more connected, clearer about your work, and more hopeful about what’s possible.*

##### The CESCIL Podcast

Hear how people across emergency services approach their work: what they’re trying, what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s making the difference. It’s a way to see how things are being done across roles and regions, and to find practical resources worth knowing about. New episodes every two weeks.

[Listen here.](https://cescil.org/podcast?hsLang=en)

##### Peer discussions

Work through real challenges with peers who understand the work. Learn from what’s working for others, and explore what could work where you are. You’ll leave with ideas and new connections across the sector. Groups of 5 to 6, online for about 45 minutes, with no preparation needed. Conversations follow the Chatham House Rule. Our first sessions begin Fall 2026.

## **What we’re hearing**

Across episodes and discussions, we look for patterns: the challenges people raise, what they’re trying, and what’s working. We share what we’re learning in a newsletter every other month, and over time in a searchable library of episodes, summaries, and insights.

## **Who we’re starting with**

People who do emergency management work, often in roles between strategy and emergency service delivery: for example, an emergency manager, someone in the fire service, or someone wearing several hats in a smaller community. Paid or volunteer, at any level of government or organization.
